Calling all kids!

Awana will be back in session beginning September 13th at 4PM.

Awana 2020-2021 Guidelines and Changes to Arrival

All children and adults will wear masks over their mouth and nose for the duration of their time indoors.

Children will enter the doors under the awning at the front of the church. A friendly leader will be standing-by to check-in each child electronically (click, click, click and they’re on their way).

Children will go directly to the sanctuary where a leader will help them find their marked spot.
Family groups will be seated together, spaced 6 ft from other groups. There they will find individual pouches with their nametag and pencil waiting for them. Don’t worry, we’ll still be rocking out with hand motions to those beloved VBS videos!

ClubTime- Children will still separate to their age appropriate clubs. Upstairs, the kids will be limited to no more than 2 at a table, unless they are a family unit. Pastor Jerry will be changing his handbook area for the 5th and 6th graders to the Jerusalem Room to allow for greater spacing. During large group time children will be spread out by at least “arm-to-arm” length on carpet squares in the café.

Games- Game time will be held outside, weather permitting. Masks will not need to be worn and games will be chosen to allow children to keep distance from one another, cleaning any items that might be shared between groups.

General sanitizing- Pew surfaces and any tables or equipment used during Sunday service will be wiped down with cleanser before Awana starts. Hand sanitizer will be available in each room for both children and leaders. Writing implements and books will not be shared among leaders and/or children.

Navigating sickness- In the 48 hrs before club night, if your child or any member of your immediate household has been sick with a fever, exhibits flu-like symptoms, has stomach upset or persistent cough please keep them home and give them some extra love (even getting a little sick during this time of COVID can be scary for a child). We will not be doing temperature checks at the door but will have a thermometer on hand if a child seems unwell. A child with a fever over 100.4 will be separated and then a call will be placed for you to come pick them up. If it is reported to us that a child or leader has been diagnosed with COVID 19 we will notify you with the last date that person attended club so that you can make a decision about attending the next Awana meeting. All meeting cancellations will be communicated to you as well.

If you’re ready to jump in, you can register at the link below or if you’d like more information you can email Laura at

We’d love to see you soon!

What is Awana?... Awana is FUN!

Awana is an international youth organization whose focus is helping churches spread the gospel to children in their communities.

Here at FDC, Awana is open to children ages 3 yo - sixth grade. Cubbies is where pre-K kids learn about how special they are to God. Sparks is for kindergarten- 2nd graders who learn how to apply God's Word to their lives. T&T teaches 3rd-6th graders that the ultimate adventure is found in their relationship with Jesus Christ!

After the opening gathering, clubbers rotate through three stations:

   • Handbook time

   • Large Group time

   • Game time

Each Awana club has its own uniform on which to display pins, patches and other awards. (Awana clubbers can earn awards nearly every week! These kids are motivated to learn God's Word!) Clubbers have colorful, kid-friendly and relevant handbooks to guide them through the year. They work on memorizing verses and completing activities in club and at home. Awana leaders and parents encourage their completion, but each child is able to work at his or her own pace; earning awards for each finished section.
